Felting is an enjoyable experience for people of all ages. It can appear magical to have unattached fibers form a solid finished piece.
To wet felt, wool fibers are moistened by applying soapy water and then rubbing the fibers to cause the barbs on the wool to tangle. The tangling of the wool causes the wool to felt.
To dry felt, needles with tiny barbs on them are repeatly inserted and into the wool to grab the fibers and it causes the barbs to tangle. This is needle felting or we call it Tangle Art TM.

Many times for projects both the wet and dry method of felting are used. For large projects, the fibers are soft felted with needles until there is a definite shape, then wet felting finishing them so they have and more even appearance.
When we wet felt, we rub the fibers against a rough surface like a wash board after the basic shape has been softly felted. This will make a stronger felt.
